At least five humanitarian workers are said to be among those who are injured, and significant damage is reported to port infrastructure. There are also fears of oil leakage to the Red Sea, increasing environmental problems.
In a statement Published on Saturday by his spokesman, AntΓ³nio Guterres stressed that international law, including international humanitarian law, “must be respected at any time.”
He urged all parties to respect and protect civilians and civil infrastructure.
The Secretary General also voiced deep concern over the ongoing missile and drone attacks by Houthi for Israel and ships in the Red Sea, calling on the group to stop the attack immediately.
