On Friday, the interested parties of the research institute throughout Nigeria declared support for the general manager/CEO of the Forestry Institute of Nigeria (Frin) the leadership of Dr. Zachariah Buba Yaduma.
In a declaration issued jointly on Friday 25 April 2025, the conglomerate of unions that include-representatives of the union of the college of agriculture (Asuca), of the Union of Academician of the Research Institutes (ASURI), of the Association of Senior Personnel (SSA) and the SSA for the protest (SSA) and a reacting by an attachment (SSA). based in Ibadan, asking for the removal of the general manager.
The parties concerned while moving away from the accusations of protest and divers against Yadoma, have expressed confidence in his leadership and asked for maximum support for Frin Helmsman.
The interested parties stressed that Frin witnessed a remarkable turnaround under the leadership of Dr. Yadoma.
The declaration states in part: “The report, based on a protest presumably staged by some members of the Union based in Ibadan, asks for the removal of the general manager, Zachariah Buba Yadoma, PHD.
“We categorically dissociate ourselves from these accusations and the protest action, which do not reflect reality through the frin system or the feelings of most staff on the various campus. These statements are not only without foundation and misleading, but also aim to obscure the image of a visionary leader who has led transformative progress to the institute since his appointment 2023”, they said.
On research and academic development, the group said that research based on policies, significant collaborations and development initiatives have been implemented in all departments under the leadership of Dr. Yadoma.
“These results are not speculative but are verifiable and well documented,” said the group.
As for the well -being and infrastructure of the staff, the group said that it is misleading to blame the administration of Dr. Yadoma for systemic infrastructure issues that have existed for decades.
βSince he assumed the assignment, he has given priority to the well -being of the staff and has actively involved pertinent ministries and partners to improve electricity, water supply and updates of the structures in all campus.
“The question of promotion arrears precedes the current administration. However, the efforts have been intensified under Dr. Yadoma to resolve the persistent staff in transparency and fairly. The staff are encouraged to ask for clarifications from the offices of human resources and finance instead of spreading badly disinformation
βThe accusations of abuse of office or contempt for the qualifying law are completely unfounded.
“Dr. Yoduma has carried out its duties in line with institutional mandates, meritocratic values ββand inclusive leadership. The necessary reforms aimed at aligning frin with global standards may have ruffled some entrenched interests, but are in the best interest of the institute.
“While we support the right of personnel to peaceful expression, the actions that interrupt academic and research activities – as the closure of gate or disinform the public – do not serve the collective interest of Frin. This conduct only undermines institutional integrity and endangers the ongoing reforms,” ββsaid the group.
The interested parties have equally urged the honorable minister of the environment, the interested parties and the public general to ignore the requests for removal and instead lent full support for the transformation currently underway to Frin.
