The late captain of the Marina Olubolade a visionary leader, National Icon – Olugbode

The hydrographer of the Federation, the rear admiral Ayodeji Olugbode, paid tribute to his former boss, the captain of the navy Caleb Omonyi Olubolade (Retd), describing his disappearance at the age of 71 as national loss.

Admiral Olugbode greeted the deceased Olubolade as “extraordinary naval officer and visionary administrator”.

Speaking from his personal experience as an ex helper of Olubolade, the Contramiraglio Olugbode offered an in -depth vision of the character and leadership of the deceased captain.

He recalled the time of Olubolade as a military administrator of the State of Bayelsa from 1997 to 1998, noting his commitment for the construction of institutions and his philosophy of leadership focused on hard work, integrity and altruistic service.

“The life of Captain Olubolade was a brilliant example of vision, integrity, dedication to the service and an incessant research of excellence,” he said.

He also highlighted Olubolade’s efforts to preserve the legacy of Ijaw and encourage unity between the different communities.

He said that after his military career, Captain Olubolade continued to serve the nation in various ministerial roles under the Goodluck Jonathan Administration, including the Police Affairs Minister. According to the recourse Olugbode, these appointments have shown that its fundamental principles were relevant and necessary in military and democratic dispense.

Blueprint reports that funeral rites have been announced for the deceased captain of the navy Caleb Olubolade.

A song of songs will take place on Friday 8 August 2025, at 4:00 pm at the military Protestant Church of St. John, Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island.

The burial service is set for Saturday 9 August 2025, at 10:00 in the same location, followed by a reception at the Conference Center of the Admiralty, Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island.
