A road project in the state of the highlands worth N12 million given by the Ministry of Federal Work to Sahar Continental Ltd. 2024, has been lost after being abolished by floods less than a year after completion.
A report shared by tracks, a civilian accountability organization that allows citizens to collaborate, track, and provide feedback on public projects in their community, reveal that projects that are re-coated and dress in the Kogin-Tofar road in the highlands, have been abandoned, leaving several parts of an unwilling way, thereby gaining concern about work quality.
The exposure revealed that this project was less applied even though the funds were allocated in the Federal Government Budget 2024 with most of the roads that had deteriorated, while some parts could no longer be driven, deprived the population of the intended benefits.
“Tracking calls for the Ministry of Federal Work, especially the department of its road @fedroadsngr, to release the complete details of the project and force Sahar Continental Ltd. to return to the site to improve poor work,” the organization said in a post on its X -grip.
“This incident highlighted repeated problems with accountability in Nigerian public infrastructure projects, where contractors often provide work below standard despite significant government spending.
Residents demand a larger transparency and tighter supervision to prevent the failure from recurring, “he added.
