The Association of Nigerian lawyers, Abeokuta Branch, has promised a free legal representation for the 93 people arrested by the Commission for economic and financial crimes on August 10 at the Obasanjo Obasanjo presidential library of Obashegun.
The president of the branch, the leader “Kayode Adremi, in a declaration on Friday, said that the association mobilized a team of lawyers to defend the prisoners and ensure that their fundamental rights were protected during the legal trial.
He underlined that the NBA would monitor the arrangement and bail questions to ensure that the EFCC and other authorities strictly adhere to the right trial.
Adremi said: “We are committed to supporting the state of law and safeguarding the rights of all citizens, regardless of the accusations against them. Justice should not only be done, but must be seen to be done”.
The Association urged the EFCC, custody officials, bailiffs and other parties interested in cooperating to guarantee equitable test standards and respect for human rights.
He also recommended to the families of prisoners to contact his Abeokuta office for assistance.
