The Nigerian Army will deploy 5,937 additional troops to fight Biafra bandits, cattle thieves and agitators

The Nigerian Army has decided to deploy 5,937 soldiers who recently passed out from the Depot to fight bandits, cattle rustlers and criminals in the country.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, disclosed this during the regular recruitment distribution parade of the 86th Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria on Saturday.

He said: “The fresh produce distributed today will be part of the solution to the challenges of insurgency in the North East, banditry and cattle rustling in the North West.

“They will fight farmer/herdsmen clashes in the North-Central region, separatist and cultist agitations in the South-East, militancy and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure in the South-South and South-West regions.”

The COAS noted that training is a continuous process in the military, adding that the Nigerian Army has implemented post-depot training packages to help soldiers master various weapons and equipment.

This, he argued, would make soldiers more efficient in the art of war.

He said the army was improving existing welfare packages to enable soldiers to meet their medical, recreational and educational needs.
