Police operations at Ebonyi have killed the leader of criminal gangs who terrorized the Iyonu community in the area of the Ishielu regional government in the state.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Joshua Ukandu, told journalists on Wednesday in Abakaliki that the suspect, who was identified as Isaiah Okoronkwo, was killed by the Crack Komando troops on August 29.
He added that the deceased was on the list that was sought the command for some time.

The spokesman said: “As a continuation of a sustainable attack on violent crime, the Ebonyi Command has recorded other breakthroughs.
“This follows the new surge in the armed robbery incident and criminal activities in the Iyonu community in the area of the Ishielu regional government.
“On August 29, the Crack Command Troop operations, acted based on credible intelligence, launched a permit operation at the hiding place of criminals located in the Iyonu forest.
“During the operation, the criminals involved operators in weapons battles, but the police stupidly responded, defeated the criminals.
“In the next meeting, Gembong Syndicate, Isaiah Okoronkwo, who had long been on the list that was sought, was neutralized, with two AK-47 rifles that were restored during the operation.”
