A coordinated attack by the operation of the Force-Tim Intelligence Department of Intelligence (FID-IRT) has led to the death of three armed bandits and recovery of ten AK-47 rifles during operations in five northern states, the Nigerian police announced on Sunday.
According to the troop community relations officers, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, operations, carried out throughout the Taraba states, the highlands, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger, formed a part of the police sustainable effort to get rid of the country from the criminal network responsible for the abduction, robbery, and rural invasion.
“The bandits, who tried to escape after observing the operation, were fatal down after the intense shot exchange, where they left their weapons and fled to the surrounding terrain with various levels of shot injuries,” said Adejobi.
He further revealed that the crush caused the recovery of ten AK-47 rifles, which had been associated with a series of heinous crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery, running guns, and rustling cattle. The weapons are believed to have been used by criminal syndicates in all affected areas.
Adejobi noted that the follow -up tactical operation was still in the process of finding and arresting the suspects who escaped, many of them were allegedly responsible for the deadly attack on the local community in the northern belt.
Repeating Nigerian police commitment to public safety, Police Inspector General, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the courage and effectiveness of the operators.

“The Inspector General of the Police has again reiterated the determination that is not honorable to uphold national security, because the Nigerian police will continue to maintain and intensify operations led by intelligence to dismantle all criminal companies,” said Adejobi.
He added, “The troops remain firm in their constitutional duties to protect life and property throughout Nigeria.”
The police also asked community members to play their role by sharing credible intelligence that could help track criminals.
“Residents are encouraged to continue to support the police with intelligence that can be followed up by reporting suspicious activities to the nearby police formation or through official channels,” Adejobi insisted.
The operation marked another great victory in the sustainable struggle for troops against terrorism and violent crimes, especially in remote areas where the Bandit gang often sought protection.
