The Ogun State Police Command has warned unauthorized unions operating in the transportation sector on problems in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday in Abeokuta, a Command Spokesperson, Ny. Odutola’s omolola, warned that there were people who were caught who caused violations of peace in the state to be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He said only eight trade unions were authorized to operate and collect income in the public transportation sector in the state.
The spokesman added that unauthorized union had triggered problems and created unnecessary conflicts with those registered with Ogun.
The statement reads: “Following the Communike dated July 8, from the Ministry of Transportation, the following trade unions, sub-sectors, and organizations are recognized as the only authorized body.
“They are also allowed to operate and collect income in the public transportation sector in Ogun.
“The Nigeria Road Transportation Entrepreneurs Association (RTEAN) – buses and taxis, the National Association of Road Transportation Workers (NURTW) – in collaboration with: Ogun Station Operational Management Services (OSOMS), Ogun State Park Management Services (OGSPAM)
“Commercial motorcycle owners are combined and Nigerian rider associations (acomoran) – motorcycle taxis (okada), articulated motorcycle and Nigerian rider association (Amoran)
“Others include: Motorcycle Organization (Romo) Drivers and Owners, Drivers and Owners of Ticket Wheel Roda (Roto), three -wheeled owners and Nigerian rider associations (Toran) and wheelers operators and driver associations (Twora)
“Considering the above, every unity, group, organization, or individuals who operate outside the registered bodies are considered illegal and will be treated as involved in activities that violate the law and pose a threat to public safety.”
