The governor of the state of Bayelsa, senator Douye Diri, described the supply of a 60 megawatt gas turbine by his administration as a reference result for the state as he marked his 29th anniversary on 1 October 2025.
Diri said that the project, if completely installed, would guarantee a 24 -hour power supply, create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the state.
The governor made him known in a state transmission in the twin of the occasion of the 65th independence of Nigeria and the 29th state anniversary of Bayelsa.
Congratulating the president Bola Tinubu, the Nigerians and Bayelsans for the celebrations, Diri expressed optimism on the fact that the best days are expected for the country and the state.
According to him, his administration of insured prosperity has continued to carry out reference projects, including the under -course state secretarial complex for nine plans designed to provide modern administrative offices for public employees.
He also underlined the construction of an Olympic Standard of 25,000 capacity, which according to him would have guided the youth development and showed Bayelsa on the national and international stage.
“The recent arrival of 60 megawatt gas turbines marks a milestone and brings us closer to reliable power and 24 hours a day in our state. This will reduce domestic expenses, attract investments, will create jobs and stimulate economic growth,” said Diri.
“The work is also proceeding well on other reference projects. The nine -plan state secretarial complex will provide an efficient administrative space to our public employees, while the stage of 25,000 capacities will inspire our young people and promote sports development.”
On education, the governor observed that the state had recorded significant progress, citing a better performance in the external exams.
“Our schools are improving. The recent Neco results have placed Bayelsa among the first five states in Nigeria.
“To strengthen technical education, we have established scientific, technical and professional college in every area of the local government. Those of Ayamasa, Ofoni, Swali, Sampou and Opume are already functional, while others in Brass, Igbeta-Ewoma and Oporoma are in the completion phase”, he added.
While urges citizens to reflect so far on the trip and commit to building a better future, Diri said Bayelsa had a lot to celebrate as a homogeneous state of Ijaw.
