The Nigerian Presidency on Wednesday evening, demonstrated its capacity for dirty dealing when it confronted activist, Aisha Yesufu, after she made a post on social media accusing President Bola Tinubu of being humiliated in South Africa during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration ceremony.
In a video he posted on
Writing in Pidgin English, Yesufu said:
“My people say Pikin doesn’t hear from home and outside, it’s a shame!
Tinubu Once Again Humiliated In South Africa.”
My people say, Pikin, who has heard nothing of the house outside, what a shame!

However, the Presidency, in response to the post, came out guns blazing, and President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, called him and his supporters a “bunch of pessimists” who remain embittered over the nomination of their three candidates. finish in the 2023 election.
“Aisha and her group of pessimists are always quick to make decisions if they think this will have a negative impact on the leader of Africa’s largest democratic country.
“More than a year after the 2023 election, in which their candidate came in third, their disease remains incurable.”

Also facing Yesufu, another presidential aide,
O’tega Ogra, Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, also wrote in X to accuse Yesufu of showing “gross ignorance” and “engaging in behavior aimed at gaining social media approval rather than constructive engagement.”
“Aisha, have a constitutionally guaranteed right to express yourself, but the indifference and outrageous behavior you consistently display, appears to be aimed at getting likes and retweets, in the name of your contempt and hatred (which you express at every opportunity) towards Nigeria. embarrassing to say the least.
For note:
1. The first row at today’s inauguration is reserved for South African kings/nobles.
2. The South African President was not expected to start greeting dignitaries at the time of the video you shared and he was respectfully called back to the podium by the inauguration host (see video below).
3. As soon as President Ramaphosa finished the national anthem, he first greeted the visiting presidents who were all seated in the second row (similar to the way visiting presidents sat in the third row at Nigeria’s own inauguration on 29 May 2023 – see image below) .
“Mrs Yesufu @AishaYesufu, your constant ignorance and hatred creates a highly toxic mix, which you have demonstrated an extraordinary ability to fully embody and personify.
“A word of warning: With or without your personal animosity, Nigeria will succeed. I really hope you receive your “Elon Check” in full this month.
