The initiative, which reflects its vision for the base development, aims to nurture the next generation of African armor champions.
The Bootcamp, which officially started in the gym, ACCRA Sports Stadium, is open to children aged 10 to 16, as well as special women and athletes, creating an inclusive platform for the discovery of early talents and the construction of skills. The sessions will take place every Saturday from 7:00 am to 10:00 am
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Sports247, Mr. Asibey emphasized the urgent need for African countries to invest in youth development and create structured entry points in sports.
“We are doing this in Ghana, and I am asking all the presidents of the Armor Federations in Africa to do the same,” he said. “Armwrestling’s future is at the base. If we want to dominate on the world stage, we must start early and build strong bases.”
The president of the AFA, who also directs the Armwrestling Federation of Ghana, said the Academy would not only train athletes, but also instill discipline, aptitude and confidence in young participants. By attacking special women and athletes, the program also seeks to promote inclusion and diversity in sport.
Mr. Asibey praised the support of interested parties and encouraged more associations with educational institutions, private sponsors and government agencies to expand the scope of the program.
This initiative occurs at a time when Armwrestling is winning tremendous traction in Africa, with the next 14th Armwestling of Africa and the 7th para-armwrestling championship that will take place in Abuja, Nigeria, in July 2025.
With the launch of the Armwrestling Academy in ACCRA, Ghana is establishing the rhythm, and the message to other nations is clear: develop the base, the growth of sport and shape the future.
