The Rep asked for Buhari’s intervention in the Nnamdi Kanu case

A member of the House of Representatives for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in Abia State, Obi Aguocha, on Sunday, appealed to former President Muhammadu Buhari to help secure the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The lawmaker, according to a statement by his media team, visited the former president in Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday to initiate dialogue to find a political solution to the Kanu case.

He apologized to Buhari for his past mistakes.

He said: “For the missteps, utterances and bad actions of the past, especially those committed by my constituents and my brother, Nnamdi Kanu, I am deeply sorry.”

Aguocha expressed optimism that a political solution would not only address the grievances of all parties but would also foster greater understanding and unity in the country.

“This meeting (with Buhari) is part of a wide-ranging initiative aimed at ensuring a speedy political resolution of the issues surrounding the detention and trial of Nnamdi Kanu, and securing his subsequent release in the spirit of engendering dialogue and a non-controversial approach to problem solving. difficult national issues, with the understanding that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is willing, ready and able to embrace the new dynamics of joining hands across the country in building a new Nigeria where peace, equality, justice and prosperity will reign,” he added.
