The residents of Magodo presented a Sanwo-Oell petition for the approval of the construction that represents a threat to lives, the properties

In a save-our-souls and properties appeal, The Magodo Residents Association (Mra) Has appeal to the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Holves Sanwolu, and well-meaning Citizens of the State to Save the Estate from an impleling infrastructural and environmental degradation by preventing the development of the Buildings in a Land-dolls Location Originally Classified As a Gorge in the Masterplan of MagoDo Gra Phase 2, Shangissha, Lagos.

In a declaration, the residents said that it was with a sense of great trepidation and concern that the managers of the south-east area of Magodo Gra Phase 2, are attracting the attention of well-intentioned Lagosians and, in particular, the governor of the State of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Omlusola Sanwolu, to the threat that is addressed in the hands of a developer owned by the physics.

In putting the straight registers, the Mra in the declaration said: “We have over the years and in the recent past has made our objection known to many of the officials of the state government of Lagos and other parties interested in this matter, in order to maintain the holiness of our environmental property.

“Mago Grande Phase 2 is a low -density density estate (for design) and has enjoyed an environmental status and stable infrastructure, from which peace and serenity have been enjoyed by all residents. This remains the attraction for most of the residents who have chosen the bridge with means of attachments, such as the owners of first generations or subsequent or subsequent investors or subsequent investors. Ikorodu.

However, the residents have said that in the last 12 months they have been bombed with a request to develop a throat blocked by the ground that acts as a natural water collection point and is supported by vegetation and sand mass that contains the high part of the position, which prevents structures on the low lands (previously called Oko Relting) to be immersed by the flow of rainwater.

According to the residents, the previous attempt to develop part of the same position about 10 years ago failed due to the situation without outlet on the sea to affirm the outline of the throat of the position.

“Our concern is that the developers helped by the best officials of the physical planning of the state of Lagos have decided to build in the throat and are intent on distorting the natural setting and peace of our environment at the expense of the existing properties in an adequate position, infrastructure comfort and therefore cause ecological distortions in an otherwise natural and stable space.

“In our letter of April 24, 2025, we had ordered the Ministry of Physical Planning and other departments and relevant agencies of the State of Lagos to this development. We expected that the agencies and relevant government departments would raise the opportunity to prevent this developer.

“In an attempt to give a fake legitimacy to an alleged demolition of an illegal structure and start a new development in the same area, the developer has approached the government’s government agencies to carry out demolition with the staff of armed security. This is obviously to intimidate residents and to put activities in a legile way. The community.

The residents also said that the vegetation that holds the cliff of the throat was planted by the community and the road was scarred by the inhabitants of the south -east area, Magodo Gra Phase 2, of which they are now in clear danger.

“To worsen these concerns, the authors started the excavation of the cliff thus threatening the environment, at this time of the year in particular when the rains are here.

“Since they seem to have transformed the deaf ears to our concerns, we have no choice but to bring this bad contempt for the community and the environment to the attention of its excellence, the governor and the general public, in order to interrupt the exercise and direct the offices relevant to take measures to face the concerns of the community.

The residents said that their foundations to object to the demolition and development proposed in the throat are as follows:

* The location is blocked and not accessible.
* The plan to access the location through another building is seriously inadequate for any development and to bind the environmental, safety and safety risks for the entire area.
* The evaluation of the environmental impact does not support any development in that position as it is subject to landslide, flood and other environmental dangers.
* The crescent that leads to the area is already saturated.

The residents added that for further professional evaluations, they conducted a complete review of the assessment of the environmental impact of the entire position which further affirms the advice “no for the development of the building” in the position.

“We have photos of drones of drones of the environment before and now to support our position”, they said, adding that “similar activities by the same ministry in recent past attempts, and are probably still on course, to open the wetlands on the border with the position to land the speculators”.

They said that distorting the throat, which until then offered a natural ecological balance is not only advisable, but constitutes an avoidable danger for the environment and for vines and precious properties.

“While we understand that the government in its wisdom is the freedom to make and cancel the original plans, this should not be done without a significant impact assessment and public information. What we have now is an egocentric decision, at the expense and damage to the greater percentage of citizens for the pecuniary gains of a few and this is exactly what this evil of the development of the throat is.

The residents say that they are peaceful and respectful citizens of the law, but they insist, however, that there are many reasons not to distort the natural environment in the throat on the back of Kunle Ogengbe Crescent in the area of the Green Valley of the estate in order not to expose several other output properties for the landslide among the other associated natural disasters.

In pleading the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Oell, the residents listed their requests as follows:

1. The government of the Lagos state is to give a stop order on the activities in the throat in the Green Valley area (Oko Filling) of the estate.
2. Direct all the ministries and relevant agencies to return to the original plan for the position to confirm our position.
3. Order the developer to restore the natural position setting.

The residents praise the commissioner for the environment, Dr. Tokunbo Wahab, for his visit to Magodo Phase II, where he underlined the meaning of maintaining the natural environment for a positive impact on the safety of lives and properties.

They also praise the governor Babajide Sanwo-Oell for his unshakable supporter and the commitment to maintain the ecosystem, praising while praising his efforts to support the standards through his initiatives for a greater, better and safer Lagos.

“We thank Mr. Governor for ensuring and protected our properties during the invasions of our property in the past,” they said.

For and on behalf of the Bot, the CCC, the CMC and entire residents of Magodo Phase2
