The river administrator demands a return of the N300M money from the NBA after the relocation of the conference

The single administrator of the state of Rivers, representative of the Ibok-eet Iba (Retd.), Has issued a response to the Nigerian Lawyer Association (NBA), challenged the reasons quoted for the relocation of the annual general conference from Port Harcourt to the Enugu state, and demanded a return of money from the N300 million hosting rights paid by the state.

In a statement released on Monday at Port Harcourt through his median aide, Hector Igbikiowubo, Ibas considers the reason for the NBA which is declared “misleading and cannot be withdrawn.”

“While we respect the right of the NBA to choose the conference, we feel like knowing that the association – regardless of the” principle position ” – does not discuss the refund from the n300 million that has been paid by the Rivers state government for the hosting rights of the 2025 Conference.

Iba denied the claim of the NBA that his actions damaged democracy and the rule of law, stated, “The attention of the Rivers state government has been withdrawn to the announcement of the Nigerian bar association dated April 10, 2025, moving an annual decision that has nothing to do with Port Harcourt to Enugu. He stressed the constitutional basis for the current administration in the state of Rivers, stating, “NBA statements ignore the constitutional basis for the current government in the state of Rivers. The declaration of emergencies is a response needed to the details of public order and democratic processes.”

Ibu argued that the Tinubu Ball President acted for the best interests of the state to restore stability, stating, “The mandate of the administrator is only clear: to oversee the transition period that ensures the refund of democratic governance is full of the constitution. To suggest that this intervention has violated the rule of law ‘is not wrong but incorrect. He urged the NBA to be involved constructively, stating, “The state of Rivers through a challenging phase but needs to be in its democratic journey.
