The safety agencies of the nation that include the military, the police, the state service department, DSS and other intelligence agencies have arrested the two famous most sought after terrorists in Ansaru, Abu Baraa and Mahmuda.

According to Mallam Ribadu, Abu Baraa and Mahmuda were responsible for the pause of the Kuje prison and other high-profile kidnappings in the north-west and in the center of Nigeria.

Ribadu said that both suspicions were on the most paid list of Nigeria for years.
βAbu Bara was described as the coordinator of dormant terrorist cells throughout Nigeria and the mind of several high -profile kidnappings and used armed robberies to finance terrorism.
“It was said that his deputy, Malam Mamuda, trained in Libya between 2013 and 2015 in the foreign jihadist instructors from Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria, specialized in the manipulation of weapons and in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices (IED),” he said.
The NSA said that the two leaders have jointly guided more terrorist attacks, including the pause of the Kuje prison of 2022 and the attack on a Niger’s Uranium structure.
Others, he said, included the kidnapping of the 2013 French engineer, Francis Colmp, in Katsina, the 2019 kidnapping of Alhaji Musa Uma Uba (Magajin Garin Daura) and the kidnapping of the Emir of Wawa.
He added that they were also linked to the networks of Ansaru in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.
According to him, the capture of Abu Bara and Mamuda marks a turning point.
“He dismantled the central command structure of Ansaru and reports the beginning of the end of impunity for terrorist leaders in Nigeria,” Ribadu said.
He said that security forces also recovered precious materials and digital evidence during the operation that have now been subjected to forensic analysis.
According to him, these should generate further intelligence implemented against Ansaru’s residual cells and their foreign collaborators.

“He followed months of profound surveillance, human intelligence and technical tracking, demonstrating refinement and inter-agency synergy without continuity,” he added.
NSA praised President Bola Tinubu for providing a strategic guide, as well as the armed forces, intelligence agencies and security services for their host in achieving success.
He reassured the Nigerians that the government would support the momentum, underlining that the fight against terrorism was far from over.
“Nigeria will continue to pursue extremists with precision, resolution and unwavering determination,” he added.
He also invited citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies, observing that “national security is a shared responsibility”.
In his observations, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, praised military forces and other security forces for collaborative efforts.
He also urged the media to continue to deny terrorists the opportunity to use the media to propagate their evil agenda.
“It is operational for all of us to make sure to work in collaboration together so that Nigeria can be safe again,” he said.
