Ado Ekiti (basic reporter) The leader of the Nigerian Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central) has revealed that the Senate is examining all the issues of public concern relating to tax reform invoices, 2024, ensuring that they will consider the invoices immediately after the EID and EID holidays.

It has equally revealed that the revision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as modified) is still in progress, stating that the process will lead to a more efficient and reactive governance system when concluded

Bamidele made these revelations in Ado Ekiti, in the state of Ekiti on Thursday during an Empowerment program that benefited from no less than 5,000 of its members in five areas of the local government in Ekiti Central.

The program are governor of the state of Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji; Deputy Governor of the State of Ekiti, Capo Christianah Afuye, President Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye and Ewi by Ado-Eekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe (Aladesanmi III), among others.

During the program, Bamidele widely reflected on various legislative initiatives that the Senate had promoted from its inauguration on June 13, 2023 to ensure the sustainability of the country’s democracy and the stability of its economy.

Persumed by the urgent need to strengthen the country’s economy, Bamidele observed that the upper chamber had focused mainly on the development of legal paintings “to stabilize tax and monetary spaces; give priority to safety; to deal with the inflation of consumer prices and create more functional governance structures”.

In particular, the leader of the Senate underlined prominent roles he had carried out in the formulation and definition of the priorities of different significant legislative initiatives, which according to him included the introduction of the tax reform invoices 2024.

He explained that the bills of the tax reform “are Cambiavalute that redefine and significantly transform the tax environment of our country. When emanated, the invoices will face the inequality and injustice that characterize our tax system”.

Pursuant to the proposed tax regime, Bamidele observed that employees who earn ₦ 1,000,000 or lower per year “will be completely raised by the tax burden. Furthermore, all companies with ₦ 50 million capital or lower now will enjoy tax exemptions. The value added tax will no longer be placed on exports and essential consumers of the masses.

“The essential goods and services include food products, education, transport and medical care, among others. Bullies further offer 27.5% in 2025 and 25% in 2026, which according to development data is conservative compared to 27% in South Africa and 30% in Kenya.

“The House of Representatives successfully approved the tax reform invoices 2024.

The Senate is examining all areas of public concern. When we resume plenary after the Eid and Easter holidays, the Senate will take into consideration the bills again; Solve all the areas that the Nigerians have expressed concern and approve bills exclusively in the national interest. “

Bamidele also underlined the determination of the National Assembly to review the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), stating that Parliament has never sold to the effort in the country’s ricrafting.

Bamidele explained the logic behind the amendment, which according to him has been designed to evolve “a more efficient and reactive governance system that will serve everyone’s interests, regardless of political prejudices, ethnic groups or religious affiliation.

“The Senate will continue to provide the legal and regulatory environment that will encourage foreign direct investments. We are convinced that this initiative will not only have a positive impact on our foreign currency gains, but will also stabilize the macroeconomic panorama.

“The initiative, without a doubt, will increase the generation of revenue of the country; it will improve people’s living conditions and increase the gross domestic product of the country (GDP), Bamidele has ensured components and Nigerians in general.

He added that the efforts were exemplified in the amendment of the National Social Investment Program Agency (ESTABLishment), 2024 “to establish an effective and responsible structure for the provision of services and adequate coordination between the relevant government agencies.

“The law now guarantees the sustainability of NSIP as a precious tool for the reduction of poverty in Nigeria. We have provided the necessary legislative paintings and strengthened public institutions with skills to deepen social equity and promote economic growth.

“The framework are also designed to encourage environmental sustainability; encourage greater access to qualitative health care; discourage social dislocation; eliminate terrorism and insecurity and reduce the gap between the Haves and the Haves-Not.

“In December 2024, the Senate approved the bill on investment and securities (repeal and re -enactment), 2024

“The Senate has also modified the law on Nigeria Data Protection Act (EMENNEMENT), 2023 to impose the platforms and social media bloggers to establish physical offices in Nigeria. The amendment further aims to promote responsibility and transparency within the digital media space. This reflects our efforts of Nigeria, the frameworks of Nigeria”

In addition, at the programs on Thursday, Bamidele authorized no less than the components in five areas of the local government with a Caterpillar tractor, 10 diesel motor tractors, 536 sewing machines, 303 chest freezers and 1,900 received a subsidy of ₦ 100,000 each to increase their activities.

Bamidele also canceled other Empowerment objects that facilitated from its voters to include 1,000 mathematical sets, 10,000 school bags, 1,000 calculators and 40,000 notebooks for students in public schools within Ekiti Central.

While he eliminated 180 motorcycles, 165 tricycles and 20 mini buses to facilitate transport within the senatorial district, Bamidele also distributed 146 organic liquid fertilizers, 57 corn seeds and 10 motor tractors for farmers.

Speaking to the program, Oyebanji revealed that the state of Ekiti has benefited significantly of the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the state should allow Bamidele to serve at the federal level.

The Governor observed that the result of selling to Tinubu request “is what the people of the State is currently benefiting right now considering the massive programs and projects of Empowerment that Senator Bamidele has facilitated the state.

“I love the way and the way the beneficiaries have been selected. Senator Bamidele is delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the State on behalf of President Tinubu. Now we can see the benefits. Now we can see what the President has seen. Whatever is doing as a federal legislator, he is doing it on behalf of a president.”
