The troops destroy the fields of bandits, recovered ammunition in the south of Taraba

In an effort supported to eliminate criminal elements that undermine the peace and safety of the communities in the state of Taraba, the commander 6 of the Army/sector of Brigadier Nigerian, Operation Whirl Stroke (Ets), the Brigade General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, led the troops of the new operational base (FOB) Wukari in a robust operation in the southern part of the southern Uwa.

The intensive operation, conducted between 19 and 20 June 2025, aimed at the enclaves of identified bandits and suspected criminal hiding places in the areas of the local government of Wukari and Takum.

On June 19, 2025, the troops advanced along the high voltage route through Chonku to Gor Road, sweeping through villages including Lortema, Gudu, Mbayenge and Teyotima in Wukari LGA. Strategic areas such as river lines, high land, abandoned settlements and well -known terrorist hiding places have been carefully searched.

In the village of Teyotima, the credible intelligence indicated that the mother of a infamous criminal, Angba (Fnu), popularly known as “yellow”, resides in the area. The suspicion is believed to use the village as a safe refuge. The troops wasolated and searched the area, but weapons or suspicions were not found.

Further operations have extended to the village of Ikayior, known for being the house of another sought after criminal, Akiki Utiv, aka “Full Fire”. The troops discover and dismantle a bandit field inside the village. A search for the premises led to the recovery of 14 7.62 mm ammunition strokes loaded in an AK-47 charger. The field was subsequently destroyed to prevent its future use by criminal elements.

On June 20, 2025, the troops continued the authorization operations through the villages of Chachangi, Jam Kaanan, Hingir, Ukum and Nbaume in Takum LGA without an enemy contact. However, at Mande Atsager, identified as the hiding place of the leading leader of the refined real John Gata, the troops met a hostile fire. The bandits, overwhelmed by the upper fire power of the troops, fled to the surrounding forest, abandoning their field.

Research of the position revealed a building with four integrated detention cells, suspected of having been used to keep victims kidnapped waiting for redemption payments. The troops also discovered a sanctuary containing a human skull, suggesting the use of hidden practices in support of criminal activities. The entire area was freed and the field was destroyed.

By praising the troops for their discipline, precision and resilience, the commander 6 brigade reiterated the determination of the brigade to dismantle all the criminal networks operating in the state of Taraba.

He also expressed appreciation for the continuous support and cooperation of local communities, in particular in providing impossible intelligence that improves operational results. He urged the residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
