The United States mission in Nigeria has issued security advisers who urge Americans to avoid unimportant trips to military and government facilities in Abuja amidst ongoing global security issues.
According to the standby, “all employees of the US embassy and their families are prohibited from non-resi travel to the Nigerian military site or other governments in Abuja today”. This measure is part of precautions that increase after an unspecified international development.

– “Avoid big meetings and consider limiting unnecessary trips.”
“Avoid routine that can be predicted. Get used to yourself with an emergency door when you enter the building. Review your personal security plans.”
Apart from restrictions, the consular part in Abuja and Lagos remain fully operational, and US citizens who seek assistance are encouraged to consult with the official website of the embassy.
