‘There is only one PDP,’ Wike dismissed the Turaki camp

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has denied the existence of separate camps within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike, who spoke with journalists after inspecting some of the ongoing projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stressed that there was only one PDP.

He said that it was normal for individuals to feel dissatisfied in any political situation.

The minister said discussions on reconciliation were ongoing ahead of the PDP National Convention to be held on March 29 and 30.

Wike, however, clarified that holding the convention would not necessarily preclude reconciliation, adding that discussions could continue after the convention.

“With the convention, it doesn’t mean there won’t be reconciliation. The convention will continue, there is a time for everything.

“Regarding whether there is a group that is making an approach, I have to say, I don’t know that there is a separate camp. There is only one PDP. So it would be wrong if I said another camp. I don’t know if there is a separate camp. There is only one PDP. So it would be wrong if I said another camp. I don’t know if there is a separate camp. There is only one PDP. So, it would be wrong if I said another camp. I don’t know if there is a separate camp. There is only one PDP. So, it would be wrong if I said another camp. I don’t know if there is another camp. separate. There is only one PDP. So, it would be wrong for me to say there are other camps.”

“I don’t know if there are other camps. If I know, there is only one PDP and it would not be correct to say otherwise,” he said.

The minister, who stated that every process has a time limit, stated that the party primaries are scheduled to start from April 23 to May 13, in line with the Election Law and the guidelines of the Independent General Election Commission.

“This timeline leaves little room for delay,” he concluded.

The PDP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis with factions loyal to Wike and another group led by former Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, fighting for control of the party.
