Three Kebbi MPs leave PDP and switch to APC

Three members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly on Tuesday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The defectors were Umar Na’amore (Argungu), Hashimu Usman, (Yauri), and Yusuf Abubakar –Tilli (Bunza).

The Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Usman-Zuru, read out three different letters written to the Assembly by defectors in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

In the letter, the former PDP members officially informed the House of Representatives and the people of their constituencies that they were joining the APC due to the crisis in the PDP in their areas.

β€œThere has been a crisis due to mismanagement of the PDP by leaders in our respective constituencies which has led to factionalism and division.

β€œIn such circumstances, constitutional provisions allow us to join other parties and retain our seats in case of a crisis,” they said.

The Speaker also read out a separate communication signed by Governor Nasir Idris to the House of Representatives seeking the confirmation of Muhammad Ashiru-Garba as the new Chairman, Kebbi Local Government Service Commission following the demise of the former chairman, Mansur Shehu.
