Popular social media platform TikTok has denied any ties to the Chinese government.
The platform owned by Beijing-based tech company ByteDance has provided clarification as it continues to fight a law that could impact its business in the United States.
US President Joe Biden recently signed a bill requiring TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the platform to a US-based entity by January 2025 or face a potential ban in the country.

A few months ago, the US Department of Justice stated that TikTok poses a threat to national security because it allows the Chinese government to collect information about American users and potentially influence the content they consume.
In a federal appeals court, TikTok is now denying the allegations and arguing that the US Justice Department misrepresented its relationship with China.
