Tinubu appoints the famous journalist Louis Odion as FC …

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed prolific journalist and public affairs analyst, Louis Odion, as an executive commissioner (operations) of the Federal Competto and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The appointment, contained in an official letter dated 12 August 2025 and signed by the secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, is subject to confirmation of the Senate.

According to the letter, Odion should immediately take duties in an acting capacity pending the fulfillment of the confirmation requirement.

“I Am Pleased to Inform You This This Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Has approved Your Peri Executive Commissioner (Operations), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Subject to Confirmation by The Senate, in accordance with the provisions of sections 4 (2) (c) and 5 (1) of the Federal competition and consumer protection commission act, 2018.

“You must, however, start working in acting skills until the condition above is satisfied. Please accept my congratulations and best wishes on your appointment”, the letter recited.

The FCCPC is the Federal Government Agency in charge of safeguarding consumer rights, guaranteeing equity on the market and protecting the public from unjust commercial practices.
