President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, pledging to review the national minimum wage law every three years.
This announcement was made by Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information, at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, July 18. The decision was revealed during an ongoing meeting with leaders of organized labor unions.
Key figures at the meeting included Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), along with several members of their unions.
Earlier, union leaders had supported the demand for a minimum wage of N250,000.
