On Monday, President Bola Tinubu hosted the National Senior National Football Team of Nigeria, the Super Falcons, in a colorful presidential welcome at the State House, Abuja, following their historic victory over Morocco at the Female Female African Nations Cup (Wafcon).
By contacting the exulting players, Tinubu confessed to having initially abstained from looking at the final game aimed for fear of aggravating his blood pressure.

The Super Falcons eliminated Morocco in a compelling 3-2 race at the Olympic Rabat stadium, ensuring the twelfth Wafcon title of the country and strengthening their domain on the African football scene.
In honor of their triumph, President Tinubu has conferred the national honors of the Niger order (Oon) on each member of the team and coaching crew.
He also announced a reward in cash of $ 100,000 (Naira equivalent) for each player and $ 50,000 for each technical official.
All team members will receive a three bedroom apartment as part of the renewed Hope housing program as part of a wider gesture to appreciate their service to the nation.
“You have inspired millions, in particular girls who now see proof that their dreams are valid and feasible,” said Tinubu.
“You also inspired me. Your victory represents more than one sporting result: it is a triumph of resilience, unity and national pride.”
The captain of the Rasheedat Ajibade team, speaking on behalf of the players, dedicated the title to the Nigerians.
“This victory is for every girl in our villages, cities and cities that dare to dream,” he said. “It is also for every Nigerian who proudly brings our green and white flag.”
President Tinubu had previously sent a presidential delegation to Morocco to support the team during the tournament.
In a previous declaration, he described their performance as “impressive” and a symbol of strength, determination and unity of Nigeria.
