Tinubu Bola President on Thursday changed the name of the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) in the state of Borno after the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The President announced this during the special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held to respect the late Buhari at the President’s villa, Abuja.
The special session was attended by members of the federal cabinet, the leadership of the national assembly, judiciary, and representatives of the family of the deceased.
“Before we took a prayer to respect Buhari’s memory, with the special session of the Federal Executive Council, can we adopt the naming of Maiduguri University with the new name – Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri,” Tinubu said at the end of the session.
The President in the previous comment in the session described the late former president as “a good, good and honorable man whose inheritance will survive for several generations.”
He said that although Buhari was not perfect, his unrobable commitment to the country, integrity and simplicity distinguishes it.
“President Buhari is not a perfect person, there are no leaders, but he, in everything, good people, good man, a honorable man.
“The record will be debated, such as all inheritance, but the characters he brings to public life, the moral power he brought, the standard that cannot be falsified that he represents, will not be forgotten.
“His life lives in full service to Nigeria, and in loyalty to God,” said President Tinubu.
The President praised the simplicity, humility, and his predecessor’s rejection of the trap of power.
Buhari, who died at London Hospital last Sunday, was buried in his residence in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday.
