Tinubu hosts the President of Chad and strengthens bilateral ties

President Bola Tinubu hosted Chadian President Idriss Déby at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday.

The President received the Chadian leader in a closed session, during which both leaders discussed issues of mutual interest and regional collaboration.

The meeting took place shortly before Tinubu’s scheduled trip to Jos to commiserate with the victims of the recent attacks in Plateau State.

The brief high-level meeting highlights ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen cooperation on regional security, trade and economic development.

Nigeria and Chad, key stakeholders in the Lake Chad Basin, continued to collaborate to address common security challenges.

Both countries are actively involved in countering insurgencies and cross-border threats affecting the region.

Déby’s visit underlines the enduring relationship between the two countries and their mutual interest in deepening strategic cooperation.

The visit is also seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen multilateral cooperation within the Lake Chad Basin.
