President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has interrupted the acquisition of 4,794 lands revoked in the territory of the federal capital (FCT) for the non -payment of the rent on the ground for prolonged years, granting a period of grace of 14 days to resolve their in suspense obligations and regularize their documents.
On Monday the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) began to seal ownership 4,794.
Some of them included the National Secretariat of the Democratic Party (PDP), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Others are Coniol Plc, Borno State Government, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), National University Commission (NUC), Mrs Investment Company Limited (owners of MS petrol stations) and Kaduna State Government.
The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), the news agency Nigeria (Nan), the federal ministry of the environment, the press and mining company of Nigerian security, University of Calabar, Nigerian postal service and Power Holding Company of Nigeria (Phcn) are affected.
This happens after the Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike approved the revocation of 4,794 land titles for non -payment of the rent on the ground for over 40 years in March and has given a series of extensions.
The decision raised criticisms widespread with the opponents who call it a tactic to intimidate the opposition.
The president intervened, instructing Wike to suspend the revocation and to provide a 14 -day extension.
This was contained in a declaration issued by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant in Public and Social Media communications to the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
For ownership in the central area, Olayinka said that the sum of N5 million would be paid by defaulting as penalty, in addition to the point of land due.
Those in Maitama, Asakoro, Wuse II and Guzape Districts will pay the sum of N3 million as a penalty, in addition to the point of land due.
The defaulting in Wuse I, Garki I and Garki II will pay n2 million as a penalty in addition to the rent on the ground due.
In addition, all those who have purchased ownership from other people, but have yet to record their interests obtaining the consent of the mandatory minister and recording their assignment acts are now 14 days (two weeks) to do it at the Department of Administration of the FCT territory.
The declaration also observed that Wike further granted a 14 -day grace period (two weeks) to all owners of ownership in the FCT to pay the invoices of the employment right (roo)/employment certificate (COOO) or revocation of the risk of these securities.
He added that in the future, the minister has recommended to owners of properties in the FCT to ensure that they pay all the invoices and expenses necessary on their property as and when due, in order to allow the government to continue to carry out development projects necessary for the benefit of people
