Tinubu Showers Super Falcons with a National Award, Cash Prize, Home

The Nigerian women’s national soccer team, Super Falcons, received a hero’s speech at the presidential villa on Monday, when the ball President Ahmed Tinubu gave them one of the highest civil awards in the country and gave them a substantial prize for their victory at the 2025 female African nation (Wafcon) in Morocco.

At the colorful ceremony held in Abuja, the President praised the team for “the spirit of resilience, determination, and their courage,” when they secured the 10th Wafcon of Nigeria in the 3-2 return of the thrilling return of the Moroccan host.

As a recognition of their achievements, President Tinubu announced the awarding of Niger National Honorary Order (OON) officers in each of the 24 players and technical crew members of 11 people.

“On behalf of the nation, I hereby give the players and national honor of the technical teams of 11 people,” said the President, drawing cheers from a happy team.

The celebration reached the highest when the president announced a three -room apartment for each team member, along with a generous cash prize of $ 100,000 (in equivalent Naira) for each player and $ 50,000 for each technical team member.

“I allocate three bedroom apartments for each player and technical crew. In addition, there is a cash award from Naira $ 100,000 equality for 24 players and equality of $ 50,000 for the technical team. Again, I congratulate you, and I will continue to pray for you,” Tinubu said when the hall erupted in the celebration.

The players who are happy, still sunbathing in their difficulty, singing and dancing around the villa in excitement, shouting: “Na Papa we become O.”

The Captain of the Rasheedat Ajibade team, who previously presented the Wafcon trophy to the President, described that moment as “the peak of hard work and sacrifice for months.”

In a careful moment, President Tinubu admitted to the players that he was initially hesitant to watch the final because of nerves. “I don’t want to have high blood pressure,” he said, pulling laughter from the crowd.

The Super Falcons victory marks their dominance in African women’s football, strengthening their legacy with the 10th Continental title. The comeback victory against Morocco in the final Saturday was added to their legend, with the team showing grit and desire after being left behind at the beginning of the match.

Wafcon 2025’s victory also strengthened Falcons as the most successful women’s team in Africa – and the presidential movement underlined the nation’s pride in their achievements.
