Tinubu sought Senate confirmation of Mainasara Ilo as head of the national anti-doping centre

President Bola Tinubu has sought Senate confirmation of the appointment of Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Center (NADC).

Tinubu made the request in a letter to the Senate and read out by the President of the Senate, Insha Allah Akpabio, at Tuesday’s plenary session in Abuja.

The President said the request was in accordance with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Law of 2025.

“In line with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-doping Law 2025, I am pleased to convey to the Senate the confirmation of the appointment of Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Center (NADC) for an initial term of four years.

“While I hope the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in its usual expeditious manner, please accept the Honorable President of the Senate, my highest assurance,” the letter said.

Akpabio then referred the request to the Senate Committee on Narcotics and Sports for further legislative input.
