President Bola Tinubu will start from Abuja on Thursday for official visits to Japan and Brazil, with a short stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, announced it in a statement in Abuja.
In Japan, the president would have participated in the ninth international conference of Tokyo on African development (Ticad9), scheduled for the possession of Yokohama from 20 to 22 August.
The conference, with the theme “Co-Creare innovative solutions with Africa”, would focus on economic transformation, on private investments and institutional development throughout the continent.
Ticad9 also aimed to promote a resilient and sustainable African society founded on peace, stability and human security.
During the summit, Omanuga said that President Tinubu would participate in plenary sessions and organized bilateral meetings with world leaders, as well as with Japanese company managers.
He also observed that the President should have interacted with the CEOs of Japanese companies who already had or were taking into account investments in Nigeria.
Ticad, an initiative of the Japanese government launched in 1993, is hosted by the United Nations, by the UNDP, the Commission of the African Union and the World Bank.
The summit, held every three years, alternates between Japan and African countries. The last edition was hosted in Tunisia in 2022.
Following the summit in Japan, the president Tinubu would proceed in Brasilia, in Brazil, for a state visit from 24 to 25 August at the invitation of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inรกcio Lula da Silva.
While he was in Brazil, he should keep bilateral interviews with his guest and participate in a commercial forum aimed at attracting Brazilian investments in Nigeria.
His delegation, including key ministers and high officials, would explore economic partnerships and should sign various agreements and memorandum of understanding (Mou) with the Brazilian government.
