President Bola Tinubu on Saturday accused the military of attacking Boko Haram insurgents, bandits and other criminal elements in a more cavalier and sophisticated manner.
Tinubu made the call at the joint passing out parade of the 71st Regular Course of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force in Kaduna.
The graduates also include Direct Short Service Course 28 (Army) and Direct Short Service Course 32 (Air Force) Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) Cadets.
A total of 823 officers were commissioned into the country’s armed forces at the event.
The President, who was represented at the ceremony by DPR Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, also asked the military to remain focused on its operations.
He emphasized that the military elite remains professional in the democratic dispensation.
President Tinubu said: βThis is being done with the confidence that the people responsible for the leadership of the country will do their job.
βWe are giants of Africa and must remain giants.β
He lamented that Nigeria as a country was faced with challenges that sought to destroy nationhood.
He said economic challenges and falling living standards, as well as unemployment and insecurity, were the main problems plaguing the country.
Tinubu, however, said more than ever, his administration is determined to do all that is necessary to ensure that Nigeria is united, secure and ready for development.
βBased on this, the current government remains steadfast in its mandate to create better living conditions for Nigerians, and to do this we have begun taking several steps.
”We have identified the core of the nation’s problems, centered on several fundamental problems.
βAs a government, we are working hard to confront these issues, including related issues, to make our beloved country safer and improve the quality of life of Nigerians.
βWe need the cooperation of all Nigerians to get better answers in our interests,β he added.
