Tinubu urged Nigerians to protect local goods, pay taxes on the address of Independence Day

President Tinubu Bola has asked Nigeria to embrace products made locally and fulfill their civilian obligations as part of efforts to rebuild the country’s economy.

Delivering his message on Nigeria’s 65th anniversary of Independence on Wednesday, the President said the federal government remained committed to stabilizing the economy but emphasized that citizens and sub-national governments must also play their role in fostering growth.

“Let’s protect the goods ‘Made-in-Nigeria’. I say Nigeria first. Let’s pay our taxes.

“My message is the hope and invitation to act,” said Tinubu. “The federal government will continue to carry out its parts to improve pipes in our economy. Now, we all have to turn on the beat of productivity, innovation, and the company.”

Citing the Ministry of Home Affairs Reform in passport processing as an example of increasing efficiency, the President urged the state governments and other stakeholders to join the nation’s development.

He stressed the need to change Nigeria from the economy driven by consumers to the productive, adding that the protection of local goods and tax compliance is very important to achieve this vision.

“Let’s become a producer nation, not only consumers. Let’s farm our land and build a factory to process our products,” he said.

The President revealed that national development requires sacrifice, innovation, and collective responsibility, convincing citizens that his government will continue to create an environment that makes it possible for the company.
