President Bola Tinubu said on Friday that his administration would make Nigeria a global investment destination.
The President, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ajuri Ngelale, stated this when a delegation from international energy company, ENI, led by its Chief Executive, Claudio Descalzi, visited him in Abuja.
Tinubu said his administration was determined to transform the country into a force on the global stage through strategic thinking, planning and implementation.
He added that his administration’s reforms aimed to reposition the Nigerian economy by exploring the possibilities of innovative thinking, strategic planning, new technologies and best practice research.
The President stressed that reforms would be sustainable for the mutual benefit of investors and Nigerians.
He said: βI see the need for us to continue to be leaders in these reforms and create opportunities to attract investment because the basket is getting bigger, and the participants are getting bigger and more resilient.
βThe fossil fuel problem already exists; science and technology are taking over.
βWe will continue to assure you that we will be a global investment destination and I will encourage you, as one of the progressive leaders in this industry, about what our reforms have achieved.
βPlease, give a deadline to that investment strategy. It will be a stimulus to the whole world when you give a deadline to it.β

He praised ENI’s trust in the country over the years and for its diversification into other areas such as agriculture.
Tinubu added: βENI, we welcome your team again. Claudio, it is an honour for me to welcome you back to your second home, Nigeria.
βWelcome back after many years. Nigeria has improved, and I am glad you realize that we are making changes, not because of anything else, but because of the long-term vision of our investment strategy.
“Gone are the days when we felt like captains of multiple ships. We have seen conflicting strategies around the world, and we are determined to fight for these changes or take a step forward from them and make reform a priority.
βWe cannot grow todayβs seeds with the belief systems of the past. We must continually be intellectually curious and reform ourselves and the way we do things. We are counting on your efforts.
“And we see the impact of your belief in our partnership, not for exploitation, but for investable development. Africa is not in begging mode but in accelerated mode to compete and take its place with the rest of the world.
βWe are open; we are ready. We are working hard on infrastructure development and providing fertile land for planting, and we are ready to partner with you in every aspect of that and in innovative research.β
Meanwhile, Descalzi said ENI would invest more in the country, especially in the agricultural sector.
