President Bola Tinubu on Friday vowed to further equip and empower the Nigerian military.
The President, according to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, gave the assurance at the graduation ceremony of Course 32 participants at the National Defence College, Abuja.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event, the president stressed the importance of strategic leadership in addressing the country’s security and other challenges.
He said: “Under my watch, members of the Nigerian Armed Forces have made extraordinary sacrifices and recorded significant achievements in protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria and securing the lives and property of our citizens.

“I will continue to do everything within my constitutional authority to ensure that the Nigerian military is adequately resourced and fit for purpose.
“We have been working on the fundamentals of your recommendations as we look forward to realizing our golden era scenario with substantial security assets supported by strong collaboration and institutional reforms.
“We are also working hard to curb the menace of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta. I have also tasked the Defense Headquarters and other security agencies to curb the menace of crude oil theft as soon as possible. This will boost oil and gas production and achieve the economic stability we desire.
“We are committed to creating a supportive business environment and driving added value in our mining sector. We are working with international partners to develop strategies that will harness the potential of this sector for national security and development.”
