The Muslim Congress, Ogun State chapter, has called on Muslims to uphold the spiritual discipline and moral values cultivated during Ramadan, warning against a relapse into sinful acts after the fasting period.
The coordinator of the group (Waali) in the state, Dr. Jamiu Folarin, made the appeal in a statement released on Saturday to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration of 1447 AH/2026.
Folarin congratulated Muslims in Ogun State, across Nigeria and the world for successfully completing the 30-day fast, describing Ramadan as a period of spiritual renewal, self-discipline and moral rebirth.
He stressed that the lessons of Ramadan should extend beyond the fasting period, urging the faithful to remain steadfast in acts of worship, including observance of the five daily prayers, recitation of the Quran, charity and other righteous works.
Citing the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, Folarin noted that while Satan is restrained during Ramadan, there is a tendency for renewed temptations after the holy month, urging Muslims to resist any repetition of transgressions.
He said: “There is a probability that Shaytan may return with renewed efforts to mislead believers after Ramadan. Muslims must, however, remain steadfast and take advantage of Allah’s guidance and blessings to uphold righteousness.”
The TMC coordinator highlighted that sustaining the virtues of piety, self-control, compassion and generosity imbibed during Ramadan could foster positive transformation at the individual, family and social levels.
According to him, Ramadan should be seen as a training ground for God-conscious living rather than a temporary ritual.
“If the discipline and values cultivated during Ramadan are maintained throughout the year, they will significantly contribute to a more peaceful, just and morally upright society,” he added.
Folarin also urged Muslims to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with moderation, gratitude and a sense of responsibility towards the less privileged through acts of kindness and sharing.
He called on the faithful to use the festive period to reflect on their role in promoting unity and harmony within their communities.
The cleric prayed that Allah would accept the acts of worship performed during Ramadan, forgive shortcomings and grant Muslims the strength to remain steadfast throughout the year.
