Troops kill five suspected terrorists, 44 surrender in Borno

Nigerian Army troops on Monday killed five suspected terrorists in a coordinated counter-insurgency operation in Borno State.

In a post on its official X Handle on Tuesday, the army said 44 more people surrendered to troops in the state.

The force added that the troops also found bombs, weapons, ammunition and explosives during the operation.

It was revealed that several criminal suspects were arrested by the troops.

The caption read: “Troops on Monday conducted a raid operation on the Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist enclave in Bama Local Government Area of ​​Borno State.

“In the operation, troops neutralized five terrorists and found two Rocket Propel Gun (RPG) bombs, two Dane guns, and one RPG bomb filler.

“Also found: One AK-47 rifle magazine, 23 rounds of 7.62 x 54 mm caliber ammunition, six motorbikes, and various types of drugs.

“Meanwhile, following sustained offensive operations against the terrorist group in the North Eastern Theatre, 44 Boko Haram terrorists and their families have surrendered to troops in Bama, Dikwa and Gwoza LGAs of the state.

“Troops arrested notorious cattle rustler, Malam Maawuya Shuaibu, at Mararaban Kantom in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.

“The suspect has been on the watch list of security agencies in connection with criminal activities in the general areas of Barikin Ladi, Riyom and Mangu LGAs of the state.

“He was arrested when alert troops responded to credible intelligence information about his illegal activities and recovered 32 stolen cattle from him.”
