Nigerian Army troops have killed four suspected bandits and rescued 20 hostages in Birnin Gwari and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna State.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna.
He said: โThe troops have neutralized a total of four bandits during two operations covering Birnin Gwari and Giwa administrative areas. This was conveyed in a series of operational feedbacks to the Kaduna State Government.
โAccording to first reports, troops of Operation Forest Sanity commenced special clearance operations in the Alawa general area of โโBirnin Gwari LGA.โ
โTroops forming a blocking force spotted the movement of bandits around Kwaga and after a short chase, neutralized two of them.
“The evidence secured in this operation was two AK-47 assembled firearms, three magazines, three motorbikes, and one Baofeng radio unit.
โIn the second report, troops of Sector 6 Operation Whirl Punch conducted a combat patrol around Nakwakina village in Giwa LGA, following credible intelligence.
“The troops conducted an ambush along the possible route of the terrorists. The terrorists were eventually spotted and engaged in a gunfight, two of whom were neutralized while the other escaped with gunshot wounds.
โTroops combed the area and found two motorbikes, a machete and a mobile phone.โ
