Troops of the 21st Armored Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai, of the Nigerian Army, have rescued another Chibok girl identified as Ihyi Abudu, and 99 other captives from terrorists inside the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
A counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who posted the news on X on Monday, said troops stormed Boko Haram’s stronghold in Sambisa Forest where they managed to rescue the captives.
According to him, the hostages were mostly women and children, including Abudu and his two children.
Makama wrote: “The operation, codenamed Operation Lake Sanity II, is a continuation of the efforts of Operation Hadin Kai troops to eliminate terrorists in Sambisa, Timbuktu and other parts of the North Eastern Region.

“Intelligence sources said that the rescued girl who is at serial number 67 in the list of kidnapped Chibok girls, escaped from a terrorist hideout in Parisu and was rescued during a clearance operation in the Bararam general area of Sambisa Forest.
“The source said that when the troops entered the terrorist camp, the soldiers saw the sad sight of 99 rescued captives consisting of 41 women and 57 children and a Chibok girl with her children, malnourished and traumatized, but still alive, surrendering to the troops.
“After the successful rescue mission, the Nigerian Army Medical Corps swung into action, and provided essential medical care to the freed captives. The team races against time to immunize the victims against a deadly disease.
“The medical team immediately assessed their condition. Many show signs of malnutrition, dehydration and exposure to disease. The team immediately acted, providing vaccines and medicines to prevent the spread of the disease.
“According to the source, Ihyi Abudu is number 19 among the Chibok girls rescued by the Nigerian Army while over 161,000 Boko Haram and their families have so far surrendered to the troops in various operations.”
