Troost-Ekong: Super Eagles focused and prepared for Russia

Captain of Super Eagles and Al Kholood defend William Troost-Ekong He has shared the team’s mentality before his international friendly match against Russia, stating that players are completely focused and committed to having a solid performance.

Speaking from the team camp, Troost-Ekong admitted that although the team is not completely familiar with the current Russian team, extensive preparations have been made, including videos analysis and tactical adjustments introduced by the new training team.

“We are anxious for the game. I don’t know too much about the Russian team now. We see that there have also been some changes since I saw the team. However, we have seen many videos in recent days to understand how the team plays and how they prepared against other friendly games that have had here in the last year. So, we did take the team very seriously.”

Ekong also recognized Russia’s strong goals in recent accessories, but emphasized Nigeria’s resolution to make a statement.

“You can see the goal, and yes, we want to make a difference over that.”

With the team suffering a transition under a new leadership, the experienced defender emphasized the importance of unity, adaptation and long -term objective of building success in the Cup of Nations of Africa (AFCON) and World Cup qualification.

“We prepare as much as we can in our way because we are also here to understand our style of play under the new coach. We have many new faces in the team, and we have to continue building for our own project, which is the AFCon at the end of the year and to qualify for the World Cup.”

The Super Eagles will face Russia in what is expected to be a crucial test of cohesion, physical state and tactical preparation under the evolutionary direction of the national team.
