Trump invites the new pope to the White House

The president of the United States Donald Trump invited Pope Leo XIV to visit the White House, with the vice -president JD Vance on Monday who delivered a letter from Trump to the first American pontiff.

“The vice -president sent a letter to the pope of the president and First Lady,” said the secretary of the Karoline Leavitt press, adding that Trump hoped that the visit would take place as soon as possible.

The visit would mark the first time that a Pope visited the White House since Pope Francis visited the then President Obama in 2015.
