The former head of defense, General Martin Luther Agwai (Retd.), Said that the worsening of Africa security challenges can be effectively addressed only through the construction of trusted, the sharing of knowledge and custom -made solutions at regional level.
Agwai, who is vice -president of the Council of the Internazional Institute for African Defence, Security and Governance (Iiadsgov), declared this while turning to the association of African defense attackers in Washington, in the United States.
The retired army head stressed that African security architecture must go beyond dependence on external actors and instead focus on leadership and indigenous collaboration.
“The real leadership in defense is rooted not only in capacity and strength, but also in integrity, discipline and commitment to serve our nations and peoples,” said Agwai.
“It is up to us to promote trust, improve cooperation and share knowledge to build resilient security structures in Africa”.
Agwai warned that issues such as bandits, kidnapping, terrorism and organized crime remain threats to stability throughout the continent. He urged the leaders of the African defense to adopt innovative and adaptive approaches in facing these challenges.
Iiadsgov, with his headquarters in Washington DC and a regional office in Nigeria that acts as an Ecowas coordination hub, is recognized by the United States Department and the Department of Defense as a broker of articles, services and defense training pursuant to international traffic regulations in weapons (Itar).
According to him, the Institute provides a platform for African countries to strengthen security cooperation, improve defense capacity and promote the exchange of knowledge between military leaders and institutions.
Aligning his observations with the agenda of 2063 of the African Union, which promotes “African solutions to African problems”, Agwai underlined the need for policies that strengthen sovereignty and reduce dependence on foreign interventions.
He added that resilient security institutions strengthened governance and regional cooperation would open the way for peaceful and unified Africa.
Safety analysts have constantly warned that Nigeria and other African nations risk long -term instability unless deliberated measures to integrate local knowledge, sharing of intelligence and mechanisms of construction of confidence in continental defense strategies.
