Tuggar urges us to work with the anchoring states, highlights the strategic role of Nigeria

New York (Basic Reporter) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, underlined the strategic importance of the renewed US-Nigeria cooperation, asking for stronger investment bonds during a high-level round table convened by the company council for international understanding (BCIU) in the edge of the 80th general assembly (UNGA).

The meeting, which brought together vice -president Kashim Shettimo and the best managers of the main US companies, focused on investment opportunities in the priority sectors of Nigeria, including energy, agriculture, technology and finance.

Speaking at the forum, Tuggar urged Washington to prioritize partnerships with anchor states in Africa. “The United States should return to work with anchor states in Africa, such as Nigeria. Our population, abundant resources and continental scale make Nigeria a natural destination for US commercial partnerships. This collaboration will increase costs, will allow access to a vast pool of talents and will help integrate millions of informal affairs into the formal economy,” he said.

The minister also stressed that, under the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria is committed to deepening economic diplomacy, creating a qualifying commercial environment and ensuring that global partnerships offer concrete benefits for citizens. He highlighted the demographic advantage of Nigeria, the ongoing reforms and continental leadership as a driver that place the country as the main African hub for global investments.
