Two sentenced to death for ritual murder in Ogun

Judge Olugboyega Ogunfowora from the Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, on Friday sentenced two people, Mustakeem Balogun and Soliudeen Majekodunmi to death due to ritual killings in the state.

He also punished Lukmon Abdulgafar for life for a 16 -year -old Sofia Okeowo murder in the Kugba area, Abeokuta, on January 28, 2022.

Commissioner of State for Judiciary and Attorney General, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, revealed this in a statement on Friday in Abeokuta.

The statement reads: “Today, July 11, 2025, Trio Mustakeem Balogun, Soliudeen Majekodunmi, and Lukmon Abdulgafar faced the law full of the terrible murder of Sofia Okeowo.

“The cowardly actions that occurred on January 28, 2022, around Kugba, Abeokuta saw Mustakeem Balogun captivating Sofia who was 16 years old to have channel knowledge about him and then killed him in preparation for the charm of the planned money ritual.

“The other two causes are Soliudeen Majekodunmi and Lukman Abdulgafar.

“Judge Olugboyega Ogunfowora from the State High Court of Ogun has found the three guilty of the crimes committed and therefore punished Mustakeem Balogun and Soulludeen Majekodunmi to death by temporarily hanging Lukman Abdulgafar received a life sentence.”
