Two university students die in truck, an accident with Tricycle

The front collision between a truck Mack and a commercial tricycle on the Yenago-Amassoma Road in the state of Bayelsa caused the life of two students of Niger Delta University (NDU).

The accident, which was reported that it occurred on Wednesday, also left the other passengers of the seriously injured malfunction tricycle.

According to the witnesses, the truck was traveling at high speed when the driver lost control and unleashed in the tricycle, causing an accident to several vehicles.

A witness reports that the truck driver was moving too quickly and when he realized the danger, it was already too late.

He said: “The Keke (Tricycle) had no possibility of escaping the danger because the tip was already close to it.

“We complained about reckless truck drivers on this road for years, but nothing changes.

“The dangerous impact has left the damaged tricycle beyond recognition.

“The good Samaritans rushed to the scene, pulling the survivors from the wreck and transporting the wounded to the Federal Medical Center in Yenagoa.

“The bodies of the deceased were subsequently evacuated in a nearby morgue.

“This accident has renewed the requests for the application of the most severe traffic, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FSC) and the State Police Command should intensify the patrols, introduce Speed -larus and conduct regular safety checks on heavy vehicles.”

The Yenago-Amassoma road is, without a doubt, the most dangerous road in the state of Bayelsa due to the number of accidents that occur every year.

The reconstruction of the stretch from the Ettewe Rotonda to the community of Tombia has led to several rounds, which motorists do not consider while often drive at dangerous speeds.

The Federal Road Safety Corps usually sends an ambulance on the road, which is stationed in the community of Tombia and sometimes in the roundabout that leads to the Agudama-Eekpetiama community.

The spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command and a police superintendent, DSP Musa Muhammad, who confirmed the accident, said that investigations are underway to reveal the cause of the accident.

“Yes, an accident happened and we are investigating the causes of the accident,” said Muhammad.
