The Customs United States and Borders Protection (CBP) states that lawful permanent residents (owners of green cards) with criminal records must face the revocation of their status and removal from the United States

The agency declared him on Tuesday in a notice to the owners of green cards regarding some of his rules.

CBP is proud to “protect the American people, safeguard our boundaries and improve the economic security of the nation”.

“Attention to green card holders: having a criminal story does not make you a legitimate permanent resident,” said the agency.

The customs agency and the US border has underlined that keeping a green card is a privilege that adds that the government reserves the right to revoke it if the owner has criminal records.

“Owning a green card is a privilege, not a right.

“According to the laws of our nation, our government has the authority to revoke your green card if our laws are broken and abused.

“In addition to the immigration removal procedures, legitimate permanent residents who present themselves in an entrance port of the United States with previous criminal convictions can be subject to compulsory detention.”
