Senator Victor Umeh, representing the Central Senatorial District of Anambra, denied the accusations of having received dollars to support the emergency rule declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state of sparrows.
Senator Umeh, in a statement, warned against serial blackmail, noting that he was not among the 42 senators who presumably collected $ 10,000 the previous day before the senators approve the state of emergency resolution.
He said he did not receive money to support the approval of the state of emergency in the state of sparrows and was not present at the alleged meeting on Wednesday in which $ 10,000 were made to 42 senators, not to mention one of the key data that organized the event.
“I did not receive money to support the state of emergency in the state of spinners. I was not at any meeting in which such payments were presumably made,” said Umeh.
Umeh explained that on Tuesday evening he participated in the traditional IFART meeting (breaking of fasting) in the Guest House of the Senate with their Muslim brothers and sisters, where he was asked to say the Christian prayers after Senator Adamu Aliero said Muslim prayers after IFTAR.
He said: “I prayed for God to guarantee peace in all parts of Nigeria and reconciliation with all the parts at war in the state of rivers.
βI prayed for love and that all the Nigerians hugged each other, for the good of our nation.
“We have not discussed the state of emergency in the state of sparrows at the Iftar.
“There were other senators of the Labor Party at the Iftar.”
The senator described the story against him as blackmail, underlining that he did not represent the truth.
He assured his voters that these relationships would not distract him from providing a good representation, adding that the purpose of the detractors was to create disaffection between him and the people and imposed his reputation.
He promised that “I will not be distracted by their false relationships and I will continue to serve my voters with dignity and integrity”.
Recall that there was news that some senators collected bribes for an amount of $ 10,000 to approve the president’s decision to suspend the governor of the state of spinners, Siminalayi Fubara. [With The Whistler report, excluding headline]
