The stranded Super Eagles are expected to arrive in Nigeria in the early hours of Sunday as Value Jet had dispatched another plane to transport them from Luanda, Angola.

The Value Jet’s initial flight had to make an emergency landing following an accident involving the plane’s windshield.

The team was returning to Nigeria from South Africa, where they lost 2-1 to Lesotho in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Super Eagles media manager Promise Eforge revealed on Saturday evening that the entire contingent was fine despite the experience.

Eforge said: “We are all fine and everything is fine with the team.

“We are expecting another plane on Sunday at 3am Nigeria time and should be in Uyo in the early hours of Sunday.

“Luanda is about four hours from Nigeria.”

It was learned that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) might consider moving the date if the team did not arrive in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on time, ready for the crucial match against Benin Republic scheduled for Tuesday.
