Overview of the WAEC 2023 Results.
Speaking on the WAEC statistics, WAEC’s Head of Nigeria’s Office, Patrick Areghan in great detail, provided an overview of the results of all candidates who participated in the exercise.
Out of the total of one million, six hundred and thirteen thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three (1,613,733) candidates that took part in this year’s examination, 1,476,565 candidates, a substantial 91.5%, have had their results fully processed and released. Candidates can check their WAEC results Here.
However, a total of one hundred and thirty-seven thousand, one hundred and sixty-eight (137,168) candidates or 8.5% of the total number of candidates who sat for the examination still have few of their subjects processed by the Waec examination authorities.
Patrick Areghan disclosed that so many factors contributed to why these results are being delayed. They include incomplete CASS upload, disobedience of rubrics, and the unconcerned attitudes shown either or both the schools and candidates involved.
However, he promised that the team is working 24 hours to ensure that these with-held subjects/results are released soonest.
Improvement in Success Rate.
Patrick Areghan further disclosed that this year’s examination success rate skydived. Disclosing that a total of 1,361,608 candidates, obtained at least a credit and above in a minimum of five subjects with or without the English Language or Mathematics.
Furthermore, a staggering total of 1,287,920, or 79.81% of the total candidates who registered for the 2023 Examination, achieved credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Visible Reduction in Examination Malpractice.
Speaking on the examination malpractice rate experienced by the board during this year’s WAEC exercise, the WAEC board hinted that the results of 262,803 candidates, or 16.29% of the total candidates, are being withheld related to examination malpractice. This figure is significant, but surprisingly better than last’s year examination malpractice rate, where a total of 22.83% of the entire WAEC candidates were involved in Malpractice.
My Verdict on WAEC Statistics for 2023.
The release of the 2023 WASSCE results statistics further cements the notion that education in the Africa continent is moving at a quick pace towards the right direction. This reflects the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of students, teachers, and the examination body towards hosting a successful examination.
