Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has expressed confidence and unity within the team ahead of Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Polokwane.

Speaking to Super Eagle’s TV, the captain shared his optimism as the three-time African champions fine-tuned their preparations for the crucial encounter.

“Everyone here deserves to be here,” Troost-Ekong said. “They are doing well in their clubs and the coach trusts them. I am very happy with the group we have and we are focused on the last training session before Friday’s game.”

The experienced defender also addressed the absence of some key players, pointing to it as an opportunity for others to step up. “It gives other guys a chance to fill those gaps. There’s no question that everyone here is willing to contribute,” he added.

Troost-Ekong further appreciated the massive support from Nigerians around the world. “We miss our teammates who couldn’t attend, but we know they are supporting us, along with the 270 million Nigerians supporting us from home,” he said.

With confidence rising in the camp, the Super Eagles will be looking for victory when they take on the Lesotho Crocodiles at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday.

A victory in Polokwane will be crucial to boosting Nigeria’s qualification hopes, as captain Troost-Ekong and his teammates look to make the nation proud once again.
